Bill Hogg - Host

Former radio host Bill Hogg is an exiled Scotsman living in the Pacific Northwest. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Paisley University; a Bachelor of Theology from N.T.C. (Manchester, England) and a Master of Arts in Evangelism Studies (passed with distinction) from Sheffield University. He is currently studying for his Doctor of Ministry at Gordon Cornwell. He has served as an adjunct youth ministry professor at Seattle Pacific University and Seattle Bible College. Bill is the author of Bill Hogg's Most Excellent Guide to Praying (Kingsway). He is a contributing writer to Fast Moving Currents in Youth Culture (Lynx), and his ministry has been featured in the media all over Scotland and the UK.

Today, Bill is the lead pastor of Gracepoint Community Church in Surrey, British Columbia. Bill's guilty pleasures include English Premier League Football (Soccer to North American Philistines) and quality microbrews.


Brian Born - Panelist

Brian Born is the head of the Intercultural Studies Department at Columbia Bible College. He holds a BBS from Canadian Bible College, an MDiv from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, and a MTh from University of South Africa. Brian has spent several years working and living in Botswana, and is currently completing his doctoral studies through the University of South Africa. His guiltiest pleasure is luring large African animals - Elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, Lions - into chasing him, although he prefers to be in a vehicle when this happens. His favorite place on earth is Victoria Falls.



Peter Chattaway - Panelist

Peter studied history, religious studies, and film at the University of British Columbia, so naturally, he loves Bible epics more than any sane man should. He counts Charlton Heston movies among his favorite guilty pleasures. The first film Peter remembers seeing is Herbie Rides Again, but it was the original Star Wars that got him excited about film. For years, Peter has said his three favorite films of all time are Lawrence of Arabia, The Purple Rose of Cairo and an obscure British flick called The Family Way. He is also an avid soundtrack collector, and he is especially fond of films like Fantasia, Koyaanisqatsi, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, which minimize dialogue in favor of music and images. Peter is a member of the Vancouver Film Critics Circle, and in addition to an award-winning film column for BC Christian News, he is a regular contributor to Books & Culture and ChristianityTodayMovies.com; he has also written on film for The Vancouver Sun, The Georgia Straight and other publications.



Allyson Jule - Panelist

Allyson Jule is Associate Professor of Education and Co-Director of the Gender Studies Institute at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC. She earned her PhD at the University of London: Roehampton in the UK, and taught in Wales for 6 years before returning to Canada. She has particular research interests in the area of Gender and Religious Identity. She is the author of Sh-shushing the Girls and A Beginner’s Guide to Language and Gender. She has also written many articles which appear in Gender and Education and Gender and Language journals. She is the editor of Gender and the Language of Religion, Language and Religious Identity, and Being Feminist, Being Christian. She is currently at work on an Education textbook, Learning to Teach Anywhere (due out in 2009). Allyson also serves on the Advisory Committee for the International Gender and Language Association (IGALA).


Kevin Miller - Panelist

Kevin Miller is a screenwriter with three feature films and several shorter film projects to his credit. His most recent productions include Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed and the upcoming documentary With God On Our Side, which takes a critical look at Christian Zionism. He and his wife Heidi live in Abbotsford, BC with their four children.


Murray Stiller - Panelist

As former Editing Resident of the Canadian Film Centre, Murray Stiller has directed, produced, written, edited, and sound designed films that have been shown around the world. He directed the feature dramatic satiric film Debating Christ, ‘Nailin’ It To The Church: Religious Satire, and The Gospel According to The Wittenburg Door, a feature length documentary produced and directed by Murray, was released fall 2008. He teaches full time in the Professional Motion Picture Program at Capilano University and is a sessional professor at Simon Fraser University.


Rikk Watts - Panelist

Aussie theologian Professor Rikk Watts trained as an aeronautical engineer, made a living as a professional drummer, and is professor of New Testament at Regent College. He lists sailing amongst his hobbies and pursuits, and recently crewed a sailboat race from Victoria to Maui.
